DeMatha Families,

The below is forwarded on behalf of Coach MacAulay and Chairperson for the American Heroes Hockey Challenge, Lori Mezzanotte.

Attention All DeMatha Hockey Families:

I am writing to provide you a friendly reminder of the American Heroes Hockey Challenge.

Please read the following note in its entirety and make note of the deadline.  WE HAVE 2 WEEKS!

Before I begin a review of the event, I realize that this project can be pushed aside or be lost inside of your INBOX of daily email messages.

Please do not let this happen.

I realize there are many things happening this time of year, the Season of Advent is upon us, so you will be distracted to complete different tasks and items of importance for your Family.

Please make this note a PRIORITY so that we can make this year’s American Heroes Hockey Challenge a successful event.

Most of you have no idea what this is, so I want to provide a brief synopsis.

We need each family to participate in finding or sponsoring a jersey for the game.  Each member of the Prep team will be wearing one of these authentic and unique jerseys (photo attached).  In the past, family members have remembered a lost relative, family member or loved one who died serving their country.  Varsity II families are also encouraged to participate if you would like to assist in this cause.  Jerseys are distributed to the owners after the game as a gift or presented to sponsor who proudly display these jerseys in their homes or businesses.  Most times, the family keeps the jersey as a terrific and meaningful keep sake as the name plate on the back of the jersey can be for anyone you wish.  This Annual Game (held in February) raises more than $20,000.00 for Fisher House and the USA Hockey Warriors in our area.  The cost of the Jersey Sponsorship is $200.00.

This is a high level event that will be a visible entity in the public eye.  The reason we do this is not self-serving, rather we do this because it is for a terrific cause and the foundation of the game was created by a former DeMatha Hockey Family.

A note from Lori Mezzanotte is below.  Please read carefully.  Lori is the Chairperson for the event who is also a DeMatha Hockey Alumni Mom (Pat Tanski class of 2013).

Lori is waiting for any questions that may arise, so please move ahead to look after this important community service event for our Program!  We need to get moving to meet the deadline.

After the event, I guarantee you will say to yourself “That was an incredibly moving experience.”

Cheers,

Tony

Hello DeMatha Hockey Parents!

Lori Mezzanotte here to give you an update on the American Heroes Hockey Challenge.

We are quickly approaching the jersey sponsorship deadline for the AHHC.  The deadline is December 10th.

At this point, DeMatha has 0 sponsorships.  In the past, DeMatha has averaged $10,000 in jersey sponsors, with multiple players having multiple sponsors.  I know that this time of year is very difficult to ask friends and family to add to their holiday expenses, which is why we can forgo payment collection until the end of January.  It is important now to get the sponsorships in and we can collect the money later.  Also keep in mind that many businesses are ready to lay out money at this time of year, to get their donations up before the end of the year so now is the time to hit them.

Many Families use this sponsorship as an opportunity to remember a loved one or relative who has served in the military.

We need your support to get the names for each jersey that each player will wear for the game.  Our deadline to order is quickly approaching.  We need this commitment to the event!

The jersey design is attached and can help to promote sponsorships.  The apparel website will be live hopefully this week and we will get that information out as soon as it is ready.  We can work on program advertisements and the silent auction after the holidays.

An update on the special guest list for the event – We are excited to announce that former NHL goalie Clint Malarchuk will be our Guest of Honor and will speak to the team in the locker room prior to the game. Clint is best known for an accident on the ice, when his jugular vein was cut by a skate during a game.  After surviving a near death experience, Clint began to suffer from PTSD.  He wrote a book in 2014, which I highly recommend if you have the time to read it, and today he speaks across the country about his experiences.  He truly is an inspiration on the human spirit overcoming adversity.  It is a great honor to have him.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, at lorimezz@comcast.net.

Regards,

Lori
